Default Mbox Pro with externel fx outboard

Needed help here!!

I'm on a project in Protools 11.03/Osx 9.1
MboxPro 3
Hooked up a Eventide on i/o3+4

using an stereo aux return input bus 5/6 input with analog 3/4 as insert
gtr audio track made a bus 5/6 as send.

with delay compensation is 670!!!!!
low latency monitoring can't hear the auxes...

in the mbox controlpanel the analog 3/4 is set as software return 3/4

What is goin wrong here??

when not using the hw inserts but several NI kontakts (drums) with multiple outs and omnisphere/trilogy altiverb the dc is minimal

A few things to consider here. #1-that's how LLM works. #2- are you trying to use the Eventide in real time while you play? The latency would make that tough at best(but you CAN set hardware compensation so you can MIX with the Eventide, but hardware comp is a manual setting). Pretty sure to make this work, you will need to use a matching set of IO(as in 3&4 in both directions, or 5&6, NOT a mix of those 2 sets). If the Eventide(you never mention the model) has SPDIF, that would be a better choice all around. You might also send to the Eventide and record the output to a new track, then nudge it earlier in the timeline as needed.

I'll say this once again(and its only my opinion), none of the Mboxes are good for using hardware inserts. I would either use an interface with more IO, or skip the hardware and get some good plugins that can cover the same needs

Hi Albee,

Its an H3k d/se, it has not digital i/o an yes i'm trying to use the eventide in real play

im using 3/4 out and 3/4 in

same is with lexicon pcm91 of which i use i/0 7/8 cause those are only spdif configurable. also in that case it gives 678 dc.

but is it correct when you use low latency monitoring that the aux with hw inserts are muted?

Yes, this is correct on any track that is record(or record-ready). This limitation is because the way to get near-zero latency is by passing audio directly thru the Mbox input and feeding it to the output, without passing in/out of the session(so plugins and sends can't affect the audio you hear as they are not actually in the monitoring chain). Personally, I never use LLM and simply set my buffer to 64(and disable any high-latency plugins until tracking/overdubbing is finished).
