Arabic Virtual Instruments within PT10, help please
Hello all,
This is a proper newbie question so please bear with me if it’s a very stupid question :) I play piano and recently I got into pro tools and now making my way with midi, virtual instruments and sounds effects generally. I listen to lots of Arabic music and some of the work I do is Middle Eastern or influenced by. I am finding it very difficult to find Arabic virtual instruments (Like Oud, Kanoun, Ney, Strings etc…) that I can use, particularly percussions (Iraqi, khaleeji Eqaa etc…). I know that there are loops here and there that you can buy but that is very limiting. I actually have a friend who has quality wav files and midi but not sure if these can somehow be imported to pro tools and be used as a virtual instrument or a sound that can be applied to midi input. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks, Eihab |

Re: Arabic Virtual Instruments within PT10, help please
Here's a couple of suggestions, if you haven't already seen these. They contain various ethnic instruments, but include those of the middle east:

These are free but you will need a VST to RTAS wrapper to use in Pro Tools.
The sound seems OK, not great, but I don't know the real ones well enough to judge. The key word here is Free. http://smatni.tripod.com/safwanmatnivstplugins/ VST wrapper http://www.fxpansion.com/index.php?page=15 |

http://www.bigfishaudio.com/detail.h...988;A115::1393 And you also have the library which comes with kontakt. It has world instruments, but also, a string section that is good if you are starting. Give it a look http://www.native-instruments.com/en...akt-5/?type=99 This way you also have a sampler where you can import your sounds to make your own instruments. I hope this helps! |
