I have been using the Profire 2626 for a few months, I love it. Lot's of flexability.
Only two things to consider;

1. In order to change routing in the console, you have to close your DAW, change and restart. But that's the same in any i've seen. But It's a pain if you want to change the clock source.

2. This is a big one.

If you touch any part of the 2626, or anything attached to the unit and you get a static discharge, the profire will most likely stop functioning till you reset it. You can see the clip and signal lights go solid on 4 or 8 channels and it needs to be shut off and turned back on.

Yup!
At work the carpet causes bad static. And at home my wife's slippers do it all the time. There's a fairly loud HI-Freq whine that happens along with it.

How about the loud pop to your speakers when you change sample rates!? I love that feature.

Just don't hot plug the thing, far out......... there's nothing you can do when that happens, you're in the dark, so be careful!

I have been using Pro tools 7.4 LE and 002 factory for years now and I was very content, untill I needed more simultaniously recordable tracks than 18. And then it seemed that the only way out is pro tools HD, but there is a money problem. So I bought a Lightbridge just to find out that M-powered Protools software has a maximum of 18 simultanuous recordable tracks. I read something about using two computers and recording 16 tracks on each, but can somebody please tell me how that works/ configures?

thanks an awful lot!

I'm unsure about using two computers, but wouldn't it be cheaper just to buy a program that will let you do more simultaneous tracks and then import into Pro Tools?

Dear Airops,

Could you please enlighten me since I am in the dark on this very issue. I have the same setup as you do. But since the lightbridge only has one fw output, how can you split it? Or is there another trick?

thank you dearly,

Niek
