Upgrade from AM III to Digi 001 ?

Hi

I just found the AM III card in an unbelievable CHIP price and since i can not afford the DIGI 001 know i was wondering if i can buy the AM III now and upgrade to DIGI 001 whenever i can??
is that possible??

As far as I understand it, digidesign has trade in/upgrade offers for users who want to step up their rig.

It's a good entry card and can also be used as an editing system.
But to trade it will be hard..

The 001 as it is newer support 24bit ADC/DAC...

The AM3 (Produced 5 years or so before) capable of 18/ADC (Unbalanced RCA input) and 24bit/DAC.
Workaround if you want perfection is to use SPDI/F and use external better ADC..
the SPDI/F does capable for 24bit/48.

I don't think Digi offers an upgrade path from AMIII to 001. Im pretty sure about that.

What is the process for upgrading ? Via digi or retailer ? Is there any differentiation made between users that paid $450 for the Toolbox a few months ago or $200 now ?

There are no exchanges available from an Audiomedia III or ToolBox system to a Digi 001. Current hardware exchange information and suggested list prices are available in the Customer Service section of Support. Check with your Digidesign dealer for their pricing.
