Quick formatting explanation please
I just got a mac, I've been a PC guy all of my life. I want to be able to work on a project on my PC and then plug it right into my mac with out having to transfer files back and forth between any hard drives. How do I need to format my external HD to be able to read and write from both my mac and pc?
From what I understand it needs to be FAT32. But does the HD or partition have to be smaller than 32GB for it to work like that? Help me out, thanks in advance.

Re: Quick formatting explanation please
to format using a PC, go to control panel, administrative tools, computer management, then click on DISK MANAGEMENT, click on the ext drive, If you right click on it, you should get an option to format it in the menu, I believe.

Re: Quick formatting explanation please
Yes it should be fat32 to be read by both mac and pc. No I don't believe there is a max partition size... my ext hd came preformatted as fat32 and its 280Gig
Here's the wikipedia link if you wanna read more about it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FAT32
