Default Pro tools 10 install issue

When I upgraded to Pro Tools 11, I got 10.3.6 as well. I am having problems getting 11 to run so I thought I'd install 10 first. After running the installer, it says that it installed but after installing, my computer seems to have a lot of problems. I can't even open an internet browser without it freezing and crashing. My computer also runs very slow and I cannot shutdown or restart unless I hold down power button. Once i run the uninstaller, my computer begins working again as if there was no issue. I had this same problem when installing 9 which is why I upgraded.

What exact problems were you having "getting Pro Tools 11 to run"?

What exactly did you do for both the PT 11 and PT10 install? What install instructions are you following? Did you unistall Pro Tools (with clean option) before doing the PT 11 installs? What version was previously installed?

Shutdown and restart the Mac, do things run O.K. now?

If not create a new administrators account, do applications and PT run OK from there?

If not do you have a working image backup (e.g. Carbon Copy Cloner) to roll back to or boot off another drive? If so do that and then uninstall Pro Tools and then start again with another PT 10.3.6 install. If that does not work (and especially if you do not have an image backup) then you are likely going to be reinstalling OSX and all the apps from scratch.

From my last attempt at installing 10.3.6, I noticed that when I opened my Audio MIDI Setup that it said there were not audio devices found. I was able to install the program but it crashed when attempting to load the stock pro tools plugins. I've been having the same issue with 11 after doing clean uninstalls. I think I might just have to wipe my HD and start fresh.
