Default PT 11 and 003 hw buffer size issue

Hi, I finally went for the PT11 option thinking the wrinkles were all about ironed out. However on my pc the hw buffer size only offers me the 256 delay option. My MBP offers the whole range from 32 (runs just fine) to 1024. I'm not sure if my signature shows so briefly the pc is i7 quad core 9300, Asus P6, 12g of crucial memory TI firewire card,OCZ 128g system drive WD black 1T audio using win 7 pro running on the Digi 003. The MBP is a mid 2012 13" still on mountain lion with an i5 dual processor also running from the 003 or an mbox 2. This problem is happening with the latest drivers for the 003 ( didn't work, stuck on 256) and the previous drivers, also 256 and no available choices. The previous drivers to that just don't work at all. The pc is about 5 years old and ran PT9.0.3 faultlessly with big sessions with a lot of heavy plugs. The PT 10.3.9 runs about the same as the old 9.0.3 so I haven't lost the option to record, but I'd like the PT11 running. Hope this garbled post makes enough sense for someone to respond. Anyone come across this problem? Its reminding me of my adventures in PT6 world. Anyone out there????

Matt

This may help. If you have the 003 set as the default for Windows sounds/audio, that doesn't work in PT 11 as it did in previous versions. Set your onboard sound card as the default for Windows sounds/audio and use the 003 only for Pro Tools.

Cheers,

Absolutely worth trying^^^^ 003 worked just fine for me and offered buffers of 64, 128, 256, 512 and 1024

I am having this buffer size issue as well. I can fix it by going into the PT Hardware setup menu and choose another buffer size. But it requires me to restart PT - unfortunately.

I am using Fireface UFX audio interface and the trick of deactivating the UFX as windows sound device in the windows sound control panel does not solve the issue, as suggested by avid.

AFAIK, with many third party interfaces, this is normal behavior. You have to change the buffer setting and or sample rate on the interface or in the interface's mixer software, before opening Pro Tools.

Cheers,
Correct. I use the RME UFX and that's the way it is, same with other third party I/Os I've used.

no biggie...
