Default Re: So what's the chances of another Expansion pack in the future

I was expecting that someone from Avid would chime in and maybe give us a hint about what's gonna be in the next ERXP, but I'm guessing that's not gonna happen. Yes I know there are rules about disclosure of this kind of thing but I was hoping for something along the lines of what Line6 did at TGP, which were just a few teasers.

Anyway that's that so you know what, I'm going to take a GUESS on what's going to be included in the next ERXP, that can't hurt can it? Ok so here we go:

User settings
- Expert mode: when ON, certain hidden parameters will be available on the AMP/FX pages, like FX mix for wah, chorus and distortion for instance.
- Low latency mode, or some form of reducing the unit latency of 3.2ms. If this comes as an operating mode, it will probaly turn reamping and maybe a few other functions off.
- Wah auto-engage threshold: value above which the EXP pedal associated with the WAH MIDI CC will turn it on and off automatically, 0 for off.
- VU Meters on big letter display mode: off/amp outputs/rig output

Standalone Patch Editor
- Load and manage user IRs

New effects
Boss DS-1
Boss OD-1
Boss SD-1
Fulltone OCD
Xotic BB Preamp
Voodoo Labs Sparkle Drive
Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face
Chandler Tube Driver

Quad delay: 4 independently programmable voices with time, feedback, mix, LP and HP
Pro Filter: continuosly variable from LP to BP to HP, with Q/resonance, mix and gain (I understande the para EQ already does this but I was thinking something more user friendly like the one from GR4)
Pitch shift/detune
Harmonizer (intelligent pitch shifter)
Boss CE-2

New Amps
Peavey JSX
Vox AC15
Mesa/Boogie MkCII+ with adjustable amount of "V" shape EQ (0 turns it OFF!)
Trainwreck
Dumble
Hiwatt
Orange

General
Factory presets can now be overwritten

Well there's my wish list for next christmas

An orange, Hiwatt, and AC15 would be huge (in my books)

a line6 dl4 pedal would be nice, and the option to have more than 1 pedal board and move "them" around in anyplace in the signal chain.

Also having multiple rigs outputting to the same or even split (stereo) outputs {like amplitube 3} would be nice too :)

I like almost all of your suggestions. Personally I'm more interested in the functional updates (latency reduction, user IR, expert mode, etc) than having new models. I find that the ERXP covers pretty much anything that I'd need tonally, although I'd really like the Fuzz Face and the Tube Driver, I'd prefer to be able to split the amp and cab to accommodate a poweramp/cab + DI FOH situation, upload my own cabs, etc.

Yes, yes, yes, quite right and I've answered that much earlier in this thread.

I'll try and re-adjust my halo .

And to Deny, that's a really great list you've got there and gets a huge
+1
from me, unfortunately posts that actually request user features are usually closed down pretty quickly (except for lately) as per Avid's policy.

You're right, threads with feature requests usually get closed down, but this is just speculation, not a request

Your pedal choices are all great!

Amp wise?
Vox - ok
Mesa - mmmmm....ok...if it must be there. I'd rather have a Mark III red stripe
Trainwreck - NO.
Dumble - hell no. Why?
Hiwatt - yes
Some kind of citrus - yes

but a JSX? Seriously....that is one of the lousiest sounding amps out there. Why do you think Joe left it. Consistency of tone had a lot to do with it.

That list could be modified to add in:

Diezel Herbert Channel 3 with Mid-cut adjustability and deep control
Diezel Herbert Channel 2 with +/- and mid-cut and deep
Diezel VH-4 channel 3 with deep control
Bogner Ubershall
Some kind of Egnater or Engl
EVH 5150 III
Marshall JVM
Mesa Mark V

ok...so I'm at bit biased to the heavier sounding amps. there are others....no doubt.

I must admit I got a bit carried away with the amp and FX model choices, my initial goal was to try and guess what Avid would come up with, but I guess we guitarists are emotional types some times

Your choices probably make more sense than mine, after all heavy tones are considered by many one of the weaknesses of the 11R so from a commercial standpoint they're sound. The reason I've included the MkIIC+ with variable amount of "V" EQ applied was because the 11R already has that amp modeled so that wouldn't be a hard task to accomplish.

Now you have to take into consideration that a trainwreck and dumble models fit the current 11R average user profile, which is studio musicians and seasoned players (that's what I perceive from my experience anyway), and IMHO the players who made the original amps famous are probably among the favorites of many 11R users.

I like where this thread is going, would love to know what other users think the next ERXP will contain :)

+20 for the Trainwreck. You get that in there and a lot of my wishlist could be ignored.

This is true. However, the Diezel VH-4 would fit into that category as well. It's one of those amps that is featured on more albums than one could even care to guess at. I was in the studio last year with one of the larger animation companies completing a contract and I had my Diezel Herbert. This year, on a renewed contract with them, I'm going in with my 11Rack. Can't wait to see how much easier this is going to be this time around!
