001 or 002R: which is faster on my machine?

In my seemingly never ending quest to work my way from a 001 to a 002R I've just thought of another thing: Which records to disk faster:
Digi 001 PCI to SATA drive on a dual 1.4Ghz. G4 Gigabit ethernet w 1.25GB RAM or:

Digi 002R firewire to same disk on same machine(@400mbps)?

Since nobody has taken a stab at this yet, and we both come from the same humble beginnings here I'll go out on a limb, and say there's probably no significant difference since the FW bus is tied to the speed of the PCI bus.

In fact I'll go even farther to point out that newer SATA drives are much faster than FW in general (realistic read/writes near 100MBps for a single drive).

I would be willing to bet though that the PCI-based 001 is far more stable, and reliable than the FW-based 002. The downside is no Tiger, and no G5/Intel Macs.

Personally I am in no hurry to upgrade. My 001/G4 combo works great, and gives me no headaches. Once the used 002s start dropping below $500 I might reconsider that position, but until then....
