Default Waves Rennaissance question

Hey there

I am looking to drop about 400-500 on a few plug ins (I have none but the digirack plugs since moving to PT LE 6.2.2.

Any one out there use the Waves Rennaissance plugs? How much character do they add? Would I maybe be better off getting something else. Basically I am looking for something that can add flavor to the sound beyond just the utility of the application.

Thanks
Chris

I think of them as more of an improvement over the Digirack plug-ins. Especially with the reverbs. Some of them I can't seem to get the most out of, like MaxxBass for instance. While it is cool I think I get enough bass with my instruments. Anyway, if your looking for something to 'weird-up' your tracks then look elsewhere. I have used things like Moogerfoogers to do that in the past. For what i paid, something like $200 on special at Guitar Center, the Rennaisance Collection is a fantastic value!

Hi Chris,

You will love the Ren package...especially the Rcomp. I seem to use parts of this package on every production i do. The Rverb and the EQ plug-ins are also good..

Happy Holidays

Kenny

Hello,

I fully endorse the above posts. These really are very professional sounding plugs and a must have for any kind of serious audio. However, you might also want to have a look at the Wave Arts stuff. I have TrackPlug which is basically a channel strip including EQ,Compressor,Gate. The quality is surprisingly good (better than the Waves equivalent IMO)and at $129 very reasonable. It is also quite CPU efficient.

There is a fully functional(30 day) demo on their web site as well as a verb plug-in to try with a special price for both bundled together. No I am not connected to the company in any way!

Cheers flobbydog

the old ren collection only has three plugs, the new ren MAXX collection has six and costs more. old collection (i think but can be wrong) is not upgradeable, but the MAXX version can be upgraded all the way to platinum according to waves.

Hello All,
I just bought the Renaissance Maxx bundle at Guitar Center because I wanted some good "bread and butter" plugs that were a step up from the stock digi plugs. The Ren Maxx bundle sounds very nice (esp RenVerb) and it is so easy to use. It lists for $450 and I just sent in a $50 rebate that Guitar Center is offering if you purchase the bundle before 12/31/2003. Go for it.
