Default firewire dvd pc to mac?

based on a suggestion from kmshroom, i checked out post musical instrument's upcoming bosendorfer 290 as an rtas plugin. online demo sounds riduculously good. there is a dvd requirement, however. i check w/pmi and it's both due to the size of the library and some security feature which he wouldn't describe to me.

i have an apple ibook (g3700mhz) with a cd drive, but not a dvd. my laptop for work is a pc which has a dvd drive in it. is there any possibility of connecting the pc laptop to the ibook so the ibook sees the dvd drive on the laptop as an available resource? i may want to think about a fw dvd burner for storage anyway, so that would obviously solve the problem. just hoping there might be an alternative solution for the pmi piece first.

thx,
steve

If both computers have ethernet ports you can, network them with a CAT-5 crossover cable, and software on the Mac called MacSOHO. It allows sharing of files and drives between Macs and PC's. We burn files from our Mac to PC and vice versa all the time this way.

thanks, will look that up.

hey -- on those firewire docks you refer to -- are you a user/sales rep or both? do you do firewire dvd drives on them as well for backup/storage and/or production?

thx,
steve

If you have another Mac, you could connect them using Firewire. Connect the computers with a FW cable then restart one of them holding "T". Speedy transfer, it works great

We both use and make the Firedock.

While we don't officially offer a FW DVD drive, they are available.
