Re: "Bounce To Disk" Track is "Lower in Volume"
But it does not explain why there was still a (small) drop in level when the source track was straight up the middle.
Yes it does though, as your signal is still going through the panpot, i.e. your bounce is printing at exactly the same level it is hitting your output bus. Look at the options you have when you're bouncing : Render Pan automation is an option, so it must be taking that into consideration. Try deselecting that option and you'll probably find you end up with a file at the right level. |

Re: "Bounce To Disk" Track is "Lower in Volume"
There was absolutely no automation, panning or otherwise on the the source track.
When I did the Bounce, the source track's pan control was straight up the middle. No automation was written, and in fact automation was turned off. And the resulting Bounce was STILL lower in volume than the source track, as I described above. All Faders at unity; No Inserts on the Master Fader! |

Re: "Bounce To Disk" Track is "Lower in Volume"
DESELECT THE "INCLUDE PAN AUTOMATION" OPTION. It doesn't matter if there's actual automation or not.
I don't know how much clearer I can be. |

Re: "Bounce To Disk" Track is "Lower in Volume"
Or, if you like, route your track to an unused mono buss and then bounce, which will remove the panpot from the channel. This will also work.

Re: "Bounce To Disk" Track is "Lower in Volume"
OK, Midnight. That solved it. The Volumes are now identical. Thank you!
This is really useful to me, and hopefully to others as well. Here's what threw me: I normally access BTD by: File ---> Bounce To---> Disk. When you access the Dialogue THAT way, you do not see the "boxes" for: Render Automation Volume / Pan. However, when you access the BTD Dialogue by control clicking on the Track NAME, then you DO see the same dialogue box, this time with the Volume / Pan choices. This is an easier (and for this reason, better) way to se up the Bounce. This is some "hidden" stuff. Thanks again… |

Re: "Bounce To Disk" Track is "Lower in Volume"
Ok - thanks MIDNIGHT RAMBLER - worked, but it would be nice to not have to select a track to bounce a selection only to do this - would be nice if it was a preference !

Re: "Bounce To Disk" Track is "Lower in Volume"
Are all of these volume comparisons done in a Pro Tools session? If you are comparing audio in Pro Tools to audio outside of PT(like iTunes, or Windows Media Player), then you could be comparing apples to bananas
