Drag and Drop select portion of an audio file into timeline?

Hi there,

As a sound designer for film, I often use the Workspace Browser to preview sounds, find the one I want and then drag and drop it straight into my timeline.

However, oftentimes the original source file is incredibly long and all I need is a portion of it. I wish there was a way to set an in/out point and drag just a piece of it into the timeline.

Anything I'm missing here? Any workarounds for this? Otherwise seems I am stuck zooming way out and having a blank track just to throw files into and then chop them up in. Seems there should be an easier way.

Thanks! Aside from being able to do this within ProTools this does seem like the next best thing. I'm trying the free trial now.

It's a bummer it creates a new clip file with no handles when you drag a portion into the timeline but otherwise it will surely work for now.
