+1 for JBL 305's (308's for a larger room).
Here's another tip: I recently picked up these:
http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/iloudmm/ and they sound surprisingly good. As I mix, I switch between JBL 308's, iLoud Micro Monitors, Tivoli Model One, and headphones. In my studio, the iLouds have actually replaced my Genelec 8010A's.

Interesting. I have Genelec 8050's as my mains and the LSR305's would still be in place if I hadn't won a set of Adams My 305's are available for $200

The JBL LSR's are amazing at thier price point!!!!! Incredible at that price point! To me when I helped a friend find some monitors they are what we settled on, and o think they are better than most monitors in the 6-800 range!

IMHO, the very best monitors in the sub 2k price are Presonus Sceptre 8's!

I recently replaced them with Adams A77X.

I'm curious have you made a measurement test of the icloud?

(iLoud, not icloud). No measurment test, just by ear. I heard the iLouds at a store, and bought a set to A/B against my tiny Genelec 8010A's (the ones with the 3" "woofer"). I was very surprised to find that, to my ears, the iLouds felt truer/flatter. I do not use them as my main monitors, just as a tiny speaker perspective while mixing. Here's a review:https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews...ia-iloud-micro

But back to the OP's question for decent inexpensive bedroom monitors for around $300 - great choice on the JBL 305's !!!
