Hearing issue
I have some hearing loss of high end in my left ear. Is there any way to put an eq on a sub master on the left side to compensate without affecting the right side?

Re: Hearing issue
Yes. ITB, simply put a stereo eq on the mix buss, apply your desired EQ to the left track and apply no EQ to the right side. You may need to make a small volume adjustment to keep levels consistent.

Re: Hearing issue
put eq (multi-mono), unlink channels, bypass right, adjust left (or you could also just not adjust any gain/cut on the right and not bypass or disable eq points depending on which eq you use)

Re: Hearing issue
That's the ticket^^^ but remember to kill that EQ plugin before bouncing the final mix.

Re: Hearing issue
Unless you’re mixing on headphones, I don’t think this is a good idea.
The sound of the left speaker will still be hitting your right ear, so you’re going to hear more high end from the left channel in your good ear as well. I’d actually try putting an ear plug in your left ear and try to mix solely with your right ear. You’d need to really cut out everything in the left ear. You could then use headphones afterwards to check the imaging of instruments. This is probably dependant on how much hearing loss you actually have in the left ear. Which leads me to one more thing. A LOT of professional engineers working in the industry have hearing loss. It might be best to continue mixing as normal. Are you finding it an issue? Have you had someone you trust have a listen to your mixes and if so, heave they mentioned anything that you’ve linked to your hearing loss? Let us know how you get on. I’m always interested in how people cope with hearing damage etc in the audio industry. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Hearing issue
What Sardi says about the ear plugs make more sense to me. Also, in case you haven't yet, it might be a good idea to incorporate some metering in your workflow, things like balance, correlation, spatial spectrograms...
