CPU usage problems...help!!!
Hopefully someone can help me!!!
I am running an Mbox on PT5.3.3 on P4 using XP with 512 memory. I am quite a beginner with Pro Tools so please bear with me. I am experiencing CPU problems: after a lengthy recording session, every time I open Pro Tools the CPU usage shoots straight up to 100% (using windows taskmanager). This obviously means I cannot use playback let alone record anything. This was a sudden problem, one minute it was fine and then this... The CPU usage marker in Pro Tools is perfectly normal, about 20%. Please can somebody help???? thank you in advance... Gaz

Re: CPU usage problems...help!!!
It is normal (in 5.3.3) for the Windows Task Manager CPU Usage to show 100%; almost all of it used by PTLE.
Ignore it, the meter in PTLE tells you what you need to know. With 6.1 and up, Windows reports more accurately.

Re: CPU usage problems...help!!!
Ok, thanks for your time. I'll give it another go.
I thought it was strange for the CPU indicator in Pro Tools to differ so drastically to the Windows Task Manager version! Thank you again. Gaz
