Default Dual Video Cards - Do they work? What kind(s)? - Noobie

Getting MBox today, 7.x to be loaded on a workhorse PC - but would like to run dual monitors as one of my buds does on his Mac.

I need some direction on what to look for on Fleabay (or other locations, if you have a hot tip where to get a deal...).. are there any setup issues that I should be aware of?

Thanks in advance, looking forward to getting into this....

I just recently installed a Matrox P650 in order to support dual monitors. It works just great and I am really pleased with it. You can get this video card in several versions: PCI, AGP 8x, PCIe x 16 with 64MB, or PCIe x 16 with 128 MB.

First this post would be better of in the Windows PTLE forum. (maybe a Mod will move it)

to run PT with dual monoters you will need.....

A) Two moniters

B) A video card with 2 outputs that match or can be adapted to the aformentioned moniters.

About the only critical area is to make sure the video card will support the native resolution of the moniters. Go by what ever slot you have AGP. PCI, PCIe and find a suitable card and keep the memory under 128MB if you can.

If the card is for PTLE and you not doing Post Production or Graphics Design a cheap card from Nvidea or ATI is just fine.

At lot of folks are still running 64MB PCI video cards with dual moniters.
