Default HDX and 4 Interfaces - Sync Issue

Hey guys!

i´ve been using 3 HD io´s Analog 16x16 with one HDX Card without issues so far.

now i wanted to add my HD Omni and can´t get them to Loop Sync. the HD Omni makes those typical syncing issue sounds/hiccups.

is there anything wrong with this setup although leaving the HD Omni out all 3 HD io´s work perfectly together:

HDX Port 1 goes to Primary Port on HD io Nr. 1, the Expansion Port goes to Primary Port on HD io Nr. 2.
HDX Port 2 goes to Primary Port on HD io Nr. 3, the Expansion Port goes to Primary Port on HD Omni.

Loop Master: HD io Nr. 1´s Loop Sync Out goes to HD io Nr. 2 Loop Sync In, its Loop Sync Out goes to HD io Nr. 3 Loop Sync In, its Loop Sync Out goes to HD Omni Loop Sync In, its Loop Sync Out goes to HD io Nr. 1 Loop Sync In.

this should be correct, right?

thanks!!!

sync cables checked

my understanding is, that the master loop unit should be first in the chain.

but the omni doesnt work with any of the HD io as Master. (when all 4 are active. with just one or two HD io the Omni works too)

now when i select the omni as master (still last in chain) the omni works (i didnt test the HD ios Inputs by now due work but i fear react like the Omni did)

this way the Omni says Master and Internal. the first HD io goes into Loop Sync and both inbetween stay Internal. this is weird...

thanks!

I fear there is something going on with the OMNI, so please try to isolate the problem by only connecting the three HD interfaces together and see if they work nice with each other.

If that is a success, then try it the other way around. First only connect the OMNI and verify that it is okay. Then connect one HD interface at a time, leaving the OMNI as first interface, and see if you can loop sync one, two or three HD interfaces to the OMNI. One by one.

If that is success, then just choose the clocking device from hardware setup. I think HD interfaces have better internal clock than the OMNI. And no, the clock master doesn't need to be the first interface. If the system works when OMNI is the first interface then just let it be so and choose the clock source you want.

so today i could test a second Omni and it´s the same behaviour.

Omni solo - works
Omni last in Chain, Clock Omni Internal - works
Omni last in Chain, Clock First/Second or Third HD i/o - Omni Hiccups

i checked all cables.

the clock-indicator-leds are also confusing.

with Omni last and Clock Omni:

HD i/o Nr. 1: LOOP
HD i/o Nr. 2: INT
HD i/o Nr. 3: INT
Omni: INT + MST

with Omni last and Clock HD i/o Nr. 1 (Omni failing):

HD i/o Nr. 1: LOOP MASTER + INT
HD i/o Nr. 2: INT
HD i/o Nr. 3: INT
Omni: INT

as far as i know, the HD i/o Clocks are better, so i want to have one of them clock the lot.

Every diagram I have ever seen has the Omni as the first interface in the chain. Try omni, hdio, hdio, hdio. I think the clocking is the same On all 4 units.
