Default .wav bounce burns to disc with errors

Hello! I've had this problem for some time now. I'm running 8.0.1cs1 on a 1st gen Mac Pro tower with 5Gbs of ram and a 002RK. After a stereo interleaved, 16bit wav bounce to disc (yes im using dither), if I burn a disc from the file, when played back from the Cd-r, I get gaps and pops in the audio. The actual wav file plays back on the computer normally, but the CD-r has a ton of artifacts. I get the same results whether I use Simply Burns or Itunes to do the burning. It seems to only happen on wavs coming outta a pro tools bounce. I'm using 44.1/16bit/stereo interleaved/covert after bounce. Interestingly enough as a side note... I just tried to bounce a song to .wav, mp3 and to .aif and put them on the same CD-r using simply burns. The .aif and mp3 seem to have burned just fine and the .wav had artifacts again. I've tried different brands of CD-r's, and I don't believe its the burner. thoughts?

I've had similar issues with wave files produced by PT8 on my G5. I think PT8's 16-bit waveform overview info in the wave files isn't fully compatible with some non-PT software. On my system, iTunes 9 burns audio CDs fine from PT8 wave files, but SimplyBurns and other 3rd party programs make audio CDs that skip/pop. Exporting as AIFF instead of wave seems to fix the problem, too.

Itunes 9 and 10 have both done it to me. Yea guess I'm switching to aif till they fix this... what's better for submitting bounces to mastering anyways? wav or aif?

Both file types are acceptable. 24-BIT preferred.
