Default HDX Input Monitoring level changes to previous fader level when disengaged

I have a question regarding Input Monitoring on HDX.

If I engage "input" monitoring on a track then change its fader level and press play, the fader does not move. Good.

However, if I disengage input monitoring then press play the fader jumps back to its previous value from before engaging input monitoring.

This does not occur when I have REC engaged but does when I have REC and Input engaged then disengage Input.

I find this annoying as I'd like the fader to stay at the level I choose When "I" is disengaged.

I can't seem to find any settings that let me change this behavior so I was wondering if this has always been the case with Pro Tools and I just don't remember.

Can anyone confirm this is normal or should I trash prefs?

"Link Record and Play Faders" is checked.

Thanks.

Pro Tools 12.2
OSX 10.10.5
HDX/Omni
Mac Pro 5,1 - 6 core
32g RAM
SSD HD - sys
Ext. HD - PT

I believe it's always been like this, but not sure.

Anyway, go to Setup (menu) > Preferences > Operations tab > Record section > turn on Enable automation in record.

Thank you very much. This solved it for me.

I wonder if this option might have been automatically enabled in previous versions and I just took it for granted.

Have a great day.

Glad it worked for you.

This feature came with PT 11.

Ok that explains my confusion then. I went from PT10 to PT12.
