Default Digi 003+ is making my computer really hot! Kernal_task is using all my CPU

MacBook Pro

Model: 13-inch, Mid 2012

Processor: 2.9 GHz Intel Core i7

Memory: 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3

OS: 10.9.2 & 10.8.5 (on separate hard drives)

Interface: Digidesign 003 Rack+ Factory (8 mic inputs)

Software: Pro Tools 10.3.8 & 11.1.2

Drivers: 11.1 for mavericks & 10.3.3 for mountain lion

Peripherals

Firewire 800 > OWC 1TB HD> Firewire 800 to 400 cable> 003+

-I've tried all possible cable combinations with no luck including:

computer > 800 to 400 cable > 003+

comp > 800 to 400 adaptor > 400 cable > 003+

comp > 800 > HD > 400 out from HD > 003+

Audio Drive: USB 3.0 > WD 1 TB HD (I've tried using 2 other drives with no luck)

I have tried all troubleshooting methods described in the forums sticky.

I have taken my computer in to apple for a hardware inspection (and passed).

I complied with the READ BEFORE POSTING sticky.

What happens:

Any sound that is played from the computer to the Digi 003+ results in the computer overheating and kernel_task goes up to ~100%. This results in the computer being less responsive and therefore can't use nearly as many tracks or plugins.

More directly it has to do with anytime the HOST 1394 green light goes on on the front of the 003+, like when pro tools keeps it on or you empty the trash bin and it makes that trash sound or a youtube video.

I am not the only one with this problem. I've been searching for the answer all over the internet for months now and no one seems to know the answer.

Please help moderator! Thanks

Same thing....

I tried:

comp > 800 to 400 cable > 003+ (Kernel_task is about 70%)

comp > 800 to 400 adaptor > 400 cable > 003+ (Kernel_task is about 95%)

comp > 800 to 400 cable > MOTU ULTRA LITE FIREWIRE (solves all problems...Kernel_task is about 2-4%)

comp > USB > APOGEE DUET (Kernel_task is about 8-12%)

I really love to use Genuine Pro Tools 003R+ hardware with PT11 and Mavericks instead of third party manufacturers.

Could you please fix the drivers? I used same setup with Pro Tools 9 and 10.6.8 Os and had zero problems.

I'm not sure this is related but:

Mac OS X 10.9.1 requires Pro Tools 11.1.2 or higher

is this happening on both versions of OSX, or just Mavericks?

Bumping this, I have the same problem. I love this interface though, would be a shame if I had to sell it.

Guys I fix my problem for the time being. I uninstalled the Avid 003 11.1 driver and installed the 10.3.3 driver and I'm using Pro Tools 10 and. I'm not getting the kernal task spike anymore for now

Did anyone using Mavericks find a solution to this (without having to revert back to Pro Tools 10 after paying for 11 a year ago)? I think upgrading to Mavericks is possibly where my problem started (maybe not) but didn't experience the problem 'til months later as had a long period of time where I din't connect my 003 Rack.

Isn't usb3 an issue? Read on here somewhere about this do a search! I run a mac pro 5,1 with 003r with no problems.
Cheers
