002R Hardware Not Found!

Folks,

My 002R just started exhibiting signs of non-booting. If I unplug the firewire to 002 R my audio HD shows up fine ...if I plug in the 002R it locks my Mac to the point of a hard restart. I now can't get Protools LE to boot at all, and can't even get anything on the computer to work if the FW cable is plugged into 002R. Many power resets, several prefs cleaning aps...I'm at a loss.

Any help appreciated...

Dude, that sucks, but we can't help you without your system information. If you're unsure of what to post, read the "Help Us Help You" thread. Also, if you can elaborate more on the Audio HD symptom - (i.e. how is it connected to the 002r) that would help, and the status of the lights on the front and the ones on the back next to the FW ports.

Righto...

Intel Mac Mini Mac OS 10.4.7 Prtotools LE 7.3. Audio HD connected to Mac Mini then available port on HD connected to 002R. Been doing it that way for a long time. the 1394 light on front of 002R is not coming on ever...seems like the link light by the ports on the back of 002R is coming on and staying on even if I unplug the drive. Best way I can describe it FW ports are Locked up ...unresponsive. This system has been running flawlessly for a year or so. Problem occurred after I was swapping some drives to do a back up. I might have hot-swapped don't remember ...could that have caused my problem? All drives work fine on other computers or without 002R plugged in.

Did it make any clicking sounds at all? It could be the power harness. Call Digi with your unit's serial number, if they determine it's the power harness they'll send you a replacement one to install.

I'm having the exact same issues. Just started tonight. I've got a 002 console with serial # ending in G, so the power harness is supposed to be the updated one. 1394 light never comes on and audio drives won't mount if the 002 firewire is plugged into the back of the iMac. The iMac and all audio drives work fine if the 002 isn't connected to the computer via firewire. I've done the firewire reboot trick on the iMac, but it doesn't fix anything.

BTW: 24' iMac w/ 2.8mhz intel duo-core OSX 10.4.11. PT 7.4cs4

Been working great for awhile now, until tonight.

Could it be a blown firewire port/chip in the 002?

Please post anything you might find out. I'll be making my own calls and digging around as well.
