Default Comparison: Digi 003 x ProFire 2626

hi

Has anyone compared the two interfaces?

Which has the best conversion and preamps? 003 or 2626 ?

What is the best?

thanks

What's best is whichever sounds best to you. Having said that, my reading points to the 2626 being somewhat better

I thought the 003 could be better (converters and pres).. apparently not.

But beware: the 2626 does not support Low Latency Monotoring mode as does the 003. For that reason I returned the 2626 and bought a 003. Also, if the still have any left, b&h is blowing out the 003R for $550! (with PT 8, of course).

It's true.

But using a buffer of 32 samples in ProFire I think it solves.

I use Pro Tools 9.

And I saw some 003 R with low price as well.

I still have doubts

I guess Digi 003 and Pro Tools 9 would give me a greater peace than 2626. The sound for what I read on the Internet is very similar.

But the low monitoring makes a difference. We also believe that.

You can put a picture of Digi 003 control panel? (In software) ..

2626 is a good routing through software. thanks!

Let me just say the 003 is a POS and its extremely overpriced. its crap. The 2626 is MUCH BETTER but I've been spoiled with high end stuff so what do I know.

Opinions vary. In any case, you CAN use both together by patching the 2626 to the lightpipe input of the 003(which will bypass all analog circuitry of the 003) And, since you can buy a used 003 rack for $500 or less, its a solid value(Space Monkey's opinion not withstanding).

I had a 2626 but didn't have the ilok for Mpowered the day I did that test, so I couldn't add it to the comparison.

But anyway... read through. I think the results speak for themselves. The 003 is fine. If you can't make a great sounding record with a 003, it isn't the 003 that's the problem.
