Default Remote record / playback

Maybe I am doing something wrong - I hope so
I have my guitar setup on the opposite side of the studio from the 003 and have installed a lead out of the 003 to a footswitch.
Now I arm the track and press the record button on the 003.
Walk across the room and stomp on the footswitch and record the guitar. Then stomp on the footswitch to stop the recording. Stomp again playback starts - so everything as it should be - except the guitar track is still armed and cannot be heard.
The question is there something I've missed so as I can listen to that track by automatically dis-arming it when stop is pressed?

Nope, you have to dis-arm the track manually.

In case you haven't thought about this, you can hook up a second keyboard and mouse via USB or with long cables on the PS2 connections(I run 25 footers to my drum room). Also, a wireless keboard works. I use a wired mini keyboard with a trackpad on it for remote control. But I also have a second LCD that mirrors the edit window, using a VGA splitter.

Thanks sw_rec I thought as much but had to check.

Albee1952 - Thanks for those suggestions. I am running a PS/2 keyboard at the moment to remotely start the computer (Its in another room)
I was interested in the mini keyboard/touchpad idea - never gave it a thought
Great idea so I have ordered one and with my spare LCD's I can get the setup quite easily. Thanks again for the suggestions.

What about auto input monitoring? So that you can hear when playing back.

I have an old laptop near my drums with XP loaded on it and I can remote control the DAW using Remote Desktop Connection.

I think the OP's problem was with trying to record remotely AND playback using the footswitch.

Now that's a solution I've never heard anyone use before!! I might just have to hook up one of my old machines and give it a try!! Thx!!

I still say auto input monitoring. If all you want to do is listen to the track while it's still armed. Input only monitoring will mute the audio that's recorded when it is armed. Maybe I'm wrong and these are great ideas, I just thought this is what he meant.
