Default Error 6097 Lost communication again and again!!!! 7.3.1

I have been getting the 6097 messages ever since I've upgraded to 7.3.1. I've recently installed cs2. I've completely reformatted my internal system drive with Tiger and am now running 10.4.9. Things weren’t running much better on 10.4.8. I did get PT 7.3.1 to run with 10.4.8 but was limited to the 512 setting in the H/W playback and 85% in the CPU (in the playback engine) If I switched either of these settings PT would freeze and then start shooting off the 6097 or "problem with internal clock detected" Also in 10.4.8 very time I tried to import audio the system would completly freeze if I chose to have the new audio "start at beginning of the session". The only way I could import audio into a session was to choose "put in regions list" and then pull the audio out to a track manually and try to save the session before it crashed.

Now with 10.4.9 I can't create a new session or open an existing sessions with out getting "6097 lost communication with the audio interface. Please try increasing H/W buffer size or removing plugins and make sure clock source and sample rate are correct"

With 10.4.8 I also received all these error codes 6093, 6086, 6085

Here is what I've tried to do to fix the problem:

Digit sent a new power harness for the 002 rack, and its been installed.
Completely erased my internal system drive and installed a fresh version of Tiger...(version 10.4.9 currently installed)
Checked compatibility of all plug ins (the digi bomb factory 7.3 plugs crash my system so I run PT with out them installed. As well NI's Akoustic Piano latest version prevents PT from running even though NI claims that this version works with PT 7 and up. I've run the three plug in compatibility updaters the developing partners, digidesign ect..that were available on the Digi site
I've deleted prefs, .coms, plists and databases as directed by the trouble shooting guide.
I re-installed from PT 7 to 7.3.1 (a few times) with a clean uninstall
Fixed disc permissions with the OSX Disc Utility.
I've checked login items in system prefs and start up items in "my user name"/library ect
I reset open firmware at computer start up
I am not using a PCI Graphics card
No Bluetooth
My System drive and Audio drives are journaled
Air Port is turned off
Energy saver is off, no sleep, CPU Highest
I run a diagnostic test on my systems Ram and checked Fire wire and other components, they seem to be correct:

Did you load the COMBO updater for 10.4.9?

Do you mean the combo updater from apple? ...I'm not sure I'll check. At the time that I intstalled 10.4.9 my Mac did it instantly as a "software update".

Ah! Then you don't have the right updater. Go to Apple and find the Combo Updater for 10.4.9.

Then, turn off the auto update. Check with Digi before loading any update. 10.4.9 is not approved but the Combo Updater seems to work.

I am still at 10.4.8, however.

Any idea why in 10.4.8 I could'nt use the 1024 sample setting and be able to increase cpu from %85 (in the playback engine panel) with out a total freeze. And a freeze with importing audio as well?

Thoughts??

I've just bought an 002R this week and it's been working fine, today i received my first "lost connection" error message. It was triggered because i had the 002R set as my internal audio output, i had Pro Tools launched and when i went to launch iTunes thinking it would auto default to internal audio the message popped up. The session started playing back no probs and itunes came through default audio. Not sure what happened......core audio being as reliable as ever i guess.

Do you have the 002 as your default audio and is something trying to access this when your using Pro Tools, messenger, itunes, mail etc?

Cheers

hey pwmachine -

do you use cracked/outdated plug-ins or anything along those lines? those cause 6097 if you search the duc you will find others with that same problem.

Getting error messages in Pro Tools in OS X: -6086, -6093, - 6097.
Setting the CPU Usage Limit above 95% may cause -6086, -6093, or -6097 errors. If a -6097 error occurs while Pro Tools is idle, reduce the number of plug-ins active in the current session.

otherwise there have been a rash of FireWire port problems with many G5's and latest Mac's if you read up on Apples forums/support section.
much less "false" DAE errors and embarrsement in front of clients. PT won't let you record drop outs into the audio and thus is very sensitive to any issues on your system. My Mac Pro that I just got for my editing room has already strange 1394 issues... so I contacted apple and it's not a new issue to them! wtf?
time again I'm thankful for my Siig card which always seems to work better than the built in ones. (They now have a PCIe version that works and is supported too, so you should be able to get one and never look back.)

Best of luck man.
