Default Visually edit waveforms?

Heyrse.

I'm wondering if there is a way to visually edit waveforms and apply fade effects directly to the waveform window. And if not, how can I make a selected region fade out? I have tried the different plugins that came with protools but I can't find anything that allows me to do that.

You can edit a waveform using the penci tool to redraw the waveform. In command focus mode click with the selector tool and press "G" to create a fadeout.

How about drawing volume automation data? I never draw on the actual waveform unless I'm fixing something that's pretty drastic.

Give the manual a read it will provide you with a few ways to do it. "g" for fadeout and "d" in keyboard focus mode work great. The fade tool when the "supertool" is selected is great too. It all depends on whether you hand is on the mouse or the keyboard.

Yeah I was thinking of that as two seperate questions like fixing something in the waveform using the pencil tool and applying fadeouts using "g" in command focus. I wouldnt try drawing in fades with the pencil, use automation for volume changes like johnT says.
