Default Playback Start Lag With Video On Line

PT 8.0.3cs2
Snow Leopard 10.6.2
Blackmagic HD Extreme

Since upgrading from 8.0.1/10.5.7, playback is delayed for up to four seconds after I press 'play.'

If I take video offline, playback is immediate.

I always use Quicktime Photo JPEG.

Any ideas? Thanks.

8.0.4 fixes this. There are other workarounds as well. Just give a search and you will find them.

Thanks!

Downloaded it today to put on my test machine.

Searched all morning for the answer. Maybe my phrases were to broad.

I just started having this problem too and can't find any workarounds. Does anyone have any way to deal with this?

OS: 10.5.5
Protools: 8.01 CS2
Mac: G5 Dual 2.0GHz
Ram: 2.5 GB
QuickTime: 7.6.6

I do notice that it happens to all playback in QuickTime as well, even without Protools running, so it seems to be a QuickTime problem. Is there a preferred version of QuickTime for Leopard users on G5's?

Thanks for any help!

In System Preferences, under Sound, make sure that you don't have Digidesign hardware selected for input or output.

Thanks - I'll check that. But can you confirm that QT7.6.6 is compatible too?
