Default updating from pro tools 8 to 8.0.5

hello. i'm new here and to pro tools. i'm running pro tools 8 on my mac book pro OS X. one of the free digidesign plug-ins that comes with 8 is called Structure Free. every time i tried using this plug-in, the interface came up all yellow and "glitchy", for lack of a better way of describing it. i read a number of forums and found that i was not the only one with this problem. the advice given was to install the pro tools 8 LE updater which i did. i installed update 8.0.5. now when i try to open pro tools i get a message saying "unable to locate digidesign hardware, make sure all cables are plugged." all of my cables are plugged in properly and this is not a problem i was having before i installed the update.
please help!!

Try re-installing the latest drivers for your interface.

I'm not a Mac guy so not sure about the process of installing drivers on Mac computer. But installing the Mbox drivers will be no different than installing any other drivers.

Having said that; the Mbox 1 is pretty outdated so I'm wondering if the Pro Tools software update has rendered the Mbox drivers useless. I don't know if this is the case but re-installing the latest available ones won't do any harm.

Click on the Compatibility links at the top of the forum for more info operating systems and pro tools version support.

Deeper links will get you to these pages from there:
The yellowish look of Structure Free (automatically installed with Pro Tools LE) may be an incompatibility with that plug-in and your operating system, but I don't know what exact version number of OS X you are using. Pro Tools LE 8.0.1 was not supported on Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6).

yikes. this might seem like a stupid question but now that i've updated to 8.0.5, how do i get back to just 8? this is a lot more headache than structure free is worth at this point.

I don't have a copy of the installer disk or download installer for 8.05 handy, but if it has an "Uninstall Pro Tools" application in your download, run that and do a "clean uninstall".

Then reinstall Pro Tools LE 8.0, then v8.0.1, then v8.0.1cs2.
