32Bit Float with Pro Tools 11
Hello all, this is my first post, so please bear with me. I have Pro Tools 11 installed on my computer listed below. it was working fine until Tuesday, when I got Microsoft updates. I am not sure if they are related but coincidental. I usually use 32 bit float with 88.2 on my Session Settings. I do this in the studio, and then upload my session to my home system to work on the project. I can now only use 44.1 with 24 bit, or the session will give me an AAE 6001 error, or tells me my audio interface does not match and creates a error log. I can create a session with 44.1 and 24, but that is it. My 32bit float sessions will not upload. I reloaded the Scarlett drivers and no help. Any assistance would be appreciated. Scarlett Tech support said it was a Pro Tools issue and would not discuss. The Scarlett GUI did show 88.2 when I selected it in Protools...thanks much

Re: 32Bit Float with Pro Tools 11
I have both an Apogee Element 46 and a Focusrite 8Pre X. The Apogee is 32 bit hardware, the Focusrite is 24 bit hardware. But whatever you are using in your studio, you should be able to export your 32 bit files by dithering them down to 24 bits.
Sounds to me like your Windows update assigned your Scarlet as the System Sounds Output. Been a while since I dealt with that issue, but the System Sounds in Windows used to be 12 bit -- and would screw up audio software.

Spot on! Having some experience with working with some people who have Scarlett's on Windows, I would have to say that the driver has got to be one of the worst for what is supposed to be a professional product. The person who wrote the Scarlett driver gave Windows higher priority than ASIO. That means the ASIO driver can't take exclusive control of the interface if it is being used for Windows audio. The fix is to put Windows back on the onboard audio and leave the Scarlett for exclusive use with Pro Tools.

Re: 32Bit Float with Pro Tools 11
Thanks, I am going to first, turn off Win updates, second, I will force the Scarlett to be the soundcard. I now suspect that the 44.1/24 works because it is using the computers native sound card, not Scarlett. Thanks R
