Protools 8 HD I can't mark edit

Hi friend's, I have two problems in Protools 8 HD:

First: I can't mark edit in the timeline when the timeline is stopped, sometimes the mark edit works sometimes doesn't.

Second: When I play music in the Workspace the VTR automatically turn on, but I don't want it happen

P.S. The CS2 is installed

I just had this problem after some newbies used my rig.

You can't insert start points in the edit window, right? You click and it doesn't go to that point?
Delete your preferences!

From Digi:
Delete Pro Tools preferences.
-Go to Users > “your user name” > Library > Preferences
-Delete 'com.digidesign.protoolsLE.plist', 'DAE Prefs' (folder), 'DigiSetup.OSX' and 'Pro Tools preferences'.
-Empty trash, then restart the computer.

It worked for me if we're having the same issue,
