Default Missing plugins after upgrade from 8 to 11!

Hey guys, a lot (such as BFD2, GTR and vocal rider), of my plugins are missing from PT 11. After I upgraded from 8 they disapeared. As stand alone plugins they are still on my computer and work fine, they just are not being seen my PT now. Like I said some plugins still work such as Melodyne and Omnisphere still work. PLease help!

I use a 2011 iMac running Mavericks 10.9.3

Pro Tools 11 uses all new AAX-64 plugins.

Pro Tools 8 uses RTAS plugins, completely different, not supported on Pro Tools 11.

You need to upgrade your plugins.

You did not read the Pro Tools 11 systems requirements/install doc/release notes did you?

Ah thanks for the reply, that makes a lot of sense. I did do a lot of research before upgrading but will admit I missed that. Is it as simple as just upgrading or am I gonna need to dish out some cash to get the new versions?

You're going to have to get BFD3 as BFD2 isn't aax 64 and won't be updated. Or you could do what I do when I need BFD2 inside PT11 - get Blue Cat Audio MB7-2 or Patchwork and host BFD2 inside that. The only bummer with that is as of now you can't use multiple outs from BFD2 into PT. If you need that and don't want to get BFD3 you get a combo PT10/11 license asset so you can do a co-install of both PT versions on the same partition of your OS. Do the drum tracks in PT10 and import them into your PT11 session. A bit of a pain but you'd get your individual audio outs from BFD2 and bypass the ADC bug in PT11 from multi-out vi's.

Before you get BFD3 I'd suggest taking a look at the fxpansion forums; it hasn't been all smooth sailing for BFD3. Try the severely limited demo and see if you like it. It's a total rewrite and gui change.

And regarding the Waves stuff, you probably have an old version. You'll need to pay the Waves Update Plan fee to get them to version 9, to be compatible with PT11.

Alternatively, with all the sales they have, you may find it not much more to just upgrade to a bigger bundle that has those plugins in them. Or a hybrid between these two methods. Tell us what you have and we can suggest some ideas.

As for other 3rd party plugins, even if they're working okay so far, you may want to visit each company's website, and see if there are updates that will help them be even more compatible with PT11.
