Default Goliath Purchase

I own and loaded PTIEP upgrade from Strike 1.0. successfully (thanks to help from here). Am I eligible for Goliath Structure edition? The store page says I am not but that makes no sense to me b/c I should now be at Structure 1.0 at least from Structure LE with PTIEP. I also purchased the install discs for PTIEP just in case. I would think the Goliath content would be on there with that 30 day trial thing.

Has anyone purchased PTIEP and Goliath for Structure successfully?

You cannot have your cake and eat it too. Goliath Structure Edition bundled with Structure 1.0.0. was a perk for early Structure purchasers. In fact, very early on Goliath Structure Edition was not available for separate purchase. If I recall only Structure owners had the option of purchasing Goliath Structure Edition. That discounted Structure LE and Structure Free.

Well I guess I could just get the regular East West version and use their player. No big deal right. I read hear that the the player is OK - maybe better than using Structure as player for some people. I can get Goliath non structure for $197. Not bad. Wonder if it works with PT 10 and Lion OK?

All EWQL stuff works great Lion/PT10. I have nearly every one of their products and they all work flawlessly. I have some pretty large orchestral mixes and then some subtle pianos and live violins. Great stuff!

Thanks for the input. How do you find using their player? Is it a CPU soaker? Difficulty?

There are some incredible deals on EW if you do a little searching.

It is not a CPU soaker in my opinion! You do want as much RAM as you can get. EWQL has lots of sales or you can find things on eBay from time to time. I will post a URL to hear the biggest mix I have done tomorrow if you wish!

PS - the player is pretty intuitive but I tend to do each part as a plugin. Was trained classically so it's easier. But the Play engine is great. Check out the pianos.

I bought a Structure 1.0 that included the Goliath install disk. I still have not tried the 30 day eval. When I bought it about a year ago, Avid wanted $299 to unlock the included Goliath. I see now they have increased the price to $399, which is absurd.

Kontakt 5 was recently on sale for $180, and is 64 bits, standalone, supports 4 physical MIDI ports (64 channels), and includes 40GB of samples, including a terrific Vienna Orchestra selection. It even included a retro keyboard collection as a "free extra".

I had been trying to replace Gigastudio, and thought Structure might do it. But the RTAS format is too limited to build a huge sound set, I prefer linking my sequencer computer to a separate stand-alone setup.

If Avid wanted to retain their Structure user base, they would include the Goliath ilok license for free with the Instrument Expansion Pack. It is as though they either don't want to sell Goliath, or they think people will falsely believe it is worth paying an outlandish price for something that can be had for much less from competitors.

Why not include EastWest Symphonic Orchestra Gold Complete Structure Edition.
