Default REALLY Slow Firewire Drive Speed Over Appleshare Network

Hi Everybody. Okay, here goes...
3 G4's (450DP, & two 400's) & an imac 400DV with a Linksys switch. All new cables & fresh installs of 9.2.1 all around. External firewire drive is connected to G4 DP (which is our TDM rig). On that particular computer, drive speeds are fine. But, over the network, the other computers have a real hard time with that drive. Slower than dog doo. Please help with any ideas if you can...

P.S. Problem drive is Western Digital 120 gig 7200 RPM (initialized with Apple drive setup) in an ADS Technologies, Inc. PYRO 1394 Drive Kit Firewire Enclosure (oxford 911 chipset)

There is an update on the apple site that increases the ethernet transfer rate. It's fairly recent. Check it out. I think it's called "Apple Ethernet Update."

I used the the Apple drivers for the Firewire drive, and could not get auditioning of that drive to work well over the network. I then upgraded to the driver that came with my EZQuest drive, I think it was Intech (http://www.intechusa.com/HDSTFW.html) and it it MUCH faster via net access. Give it a shot!

Man, I love this forum. Keep the suggestions coming. I'll try em' all! I just can't afford to lose anything that's on the drive.

Yeah, I know.
