Okay, I take back my positive post from above.

MC Mix and Control froze three times in front of clients during a session today. Fortunately, Pro Tools kept humming along, so I mixed with the $#%$ mouse until lunch, at which point one of the assistants pulled the units and gave me back my old Command-8. Which works and never glitches.

We've put a lot of time into making these things work, and it's really frustrating that I can't rely on them. I'm beginning to wonder if I should buy a D-Command since the S6 is over-priced...

Mac Pro 4,1
OS 10.8.5
PTHD 10.3.8
static IPs, dedicated switch

Yep d command - b/c you get the wow factor as well.

I really like my artist control and functions great but it's not a desk by any stretch if the imagination.

For me OS10.9.3/PTHD11.1.3/Eucon 3.1/Locked to PT/DHCP/Wi-Fi on/off all the time works almost ok.. with couple of odd procedures when starting my system.

First start seems to be hardest part. I found that best way is to start computer, start Transport/Mix, start EuControl. Then it won’t work yet, but after I log out/log in all is ok. E.g. today I have worked 10 hours without any problems. But I can’t open any other networks during EuControl (even with static IP). If I open wi-fi, EuControl freezes and Eucon snapshots goes empty. But when I get thinks work, EuControl seems to run well.
Edit: correct Eucon version.

I will be investigating this soon.

I am moving and will have a wifi only connection - I will install my gigabyte wifi and use internet from that

But I will have my static ip (physical nic port) setup for use with my control.

I'm using Win7 64bit w/ PT 10.3.7 and thinking of adding MIX + TRANSPORT.

I already have a LAN router with 2 free ethernet ports available and was wondering if any Windows7 64bit PT 10.3.7 users have been successful setting up that way?

Also the router is in my bed room, not the studio, what is the max length of cat5/cat6 recommended by Avid?

I did it in the past, working fine.

Win 7 64 bit with a cable modem/router connected to my computer with an ethernet cable. Artist Mix connected to the router with the supplied ethernet cable. Works fine. I'm using PT 10.3.9 and 11.1.3, though. I've had it disconnect once, back up and running by power cycling the controller and restarting PT.

I'm not using a static IP, but so far that has not been an issue. I'd love to know how to properly set that up, just in case. AFAIK, it can't be done with my particular ISP (they own the modem/router).

This can be a bit confusing because you typically have two IP addresses...

One is on the internet side, and will not have an address like 10.x.x.x, 172.16.x.x, or 192.168.x.x. The other is on the local network side, and will have an address like 10.x.x.x, 172.16.x.x or 192.168.x.x.

The IP address on the internet side is whatever your ISP gives you. It may be a static address or it may be a dynamic address...anyway, that's not germane to this discussion.

It is on the local network side where you would assign a static IP. There's a bit more to it (that I don't have time to discuss right now), but you would be assigning static IP's where it matters, while still using dynamic IP's where it doesn't ("family" or kid's PC's).

We'll save that discussion for another day...

Just rockin'...what more is there?
