Yah, they do. Always.

This applies to *any* product based upon computer tech, not just ER & PT.

The way you *should* be looking at this, I think, is that you've had the use of the product. Otherwise, your only recourse to get the "best" deal is to *never* buy the product: it'll *always* be less expensive later. Always.

You keep screwing your old buyers and very soon you'll find your new buyers dwindling as well. It's a fine balancing act. I'd be the last person to say I want things for free, but two successive upgrades of USD 200+ over a one year period is more than I'm happy with. I don't see why they couldn't have been rolled into ONE update (even if it were to be priced somewhere in between).

The way I *should* be looking at it is if I don't feel I'm getting both relative AND absolute value, I'm going to be looking somewhere else. Always.

NB: I have no issue with paying for updates. I was happy to pay USD 100 for the ERXP, and I have defended to decision to charge for an update relative to the free Axe-FX updates because I felt I was getting value for money. I'd pay for another update in the same price range with those type of features without batting an eyelid. The Pro Tools 10 upgrade pricing is a different kettle of fish, given the cost and the time interval between the last update.

yeah I saw that earlier in the General Discussion section. I dont know how the guy gets away with allowing ads to be placed on that video since it includes copyrighted material, that directly goes against youtube's Monetization TOS.

Pretty funny video though, and he made another one with Xtra Normal.
