Lets face it, Pro Tools (not HD) purchasers are either people using it as a hobby or people catering for poor artists in the recording market.

These days with so many artists recording music to offer as a free download to promote them selves 2k is too much for me to pay for these benefits and be able to pass on to artists.

$299 without the RAM benefits also leaves me in a place to hold out.

Rather than integrating with soundcloud to encourage free music listening, Avid should integrate with music sites that provide revenue for artists.

When I write DSP systems I'm talking about the systems with Avid processing cards i.e. TDM and HDX .

What you are saying is not correct if you are referring to RAM Disk--as we are trying to tell you that feature is included for all Pro Tool HD 10 users (including HD Native --i.e. no DSP) and Pro Tools 10 Production Toolkit users (i.e. non-HD -- again no DSP).

If you are talking about a different feature what _exactly_ is it?

Darryl

All I am saying is that without "RAM Disk" included in PT9 to PT10 upgrade..... The upgrade price is overpriced at $299 in my opinion.

Yes one could purchase Toolkit on top of the PT10 upgrade.... However then the price would be higher and then it would be still be overpriced in my opinion.

I doubt - "Im hoping the PT10 price is a one time thing, and things will settle once PT11 comes out." is what I was saying. The reason I doubt it is because PT11 will soft likely be 64 BIT software and thus offer more incentive for everyone to purchase it.

You are probably right, but im still hoping.

Im just wondering what the upgrade price to PT11 will be for PT10 vs. PT9 vs. PT8 and before. Maybe they will reward PT10 users with a $99 upgrade and stick it to the non-adapters with a $799 price tag

But we have at least a year before any of this happens, so for now im going to keep my eye on HD|Native, see how people like the HDX cards, watch Avids stock price, and then react accordingly to the evidence.

Does 11R act as the dongle for PT 10 or is it ilok only?

Also, with your 10 license do you get 9 as well?

need to stay flexible.

thanks,
dg

From what I have read the PT10 license will open PT9, but I cannot confirm this, you should ask in the PT10 forum, i dont think many (or any) of us that populate this section have upgraded to PT10 yet.
