Default Mbox Mini will NOT powerup up after restarts

Hello all.

I've been using an original Mbox for years. Works great. Got a Mbox Mini which seems to work fine, but it will not power up on its own after a restart of my Powerbook 12" G4. I have to manually unplug the USB cable and plug in again. It's the same on both USB ports. In addition, the Powerbook is running of AC, not battery, so USB power should not be a problem, at least it never has been with the original Mbox.

I've tried various cables, and am convinced that's not the issue. I've seen suggestions here about "firmware upgrade", but I'm not sure what that refers to. True, I am running 10.4.9, but I did this with the Combo updater as suggested by Digi, and Pro Tools 7.3.1 works great, no problem.

To re-cap, the only problem seems to be that the Mini will not survive a restart without unplugging and re-plugging.

Any suggestions appreciated.

VG

Default Re: Mbox Mini will NOT powerup up after restarts

DOH!! Answering my own post. How silly! From my much previous installation of the Mbox original, I had turned off the Mbox 2 Preference Pane and Startup Item. Naturally, the Mac didn't know to recognize it at startup. Turned them on again and all is fine now. Still not sure about which firmware version to run, but I bet a little poking around here will disclose that.

Sorry for anyone who suffered through my original post.

By the way, I use a great utility (a Preference Pane) call Diablotin. It allows us Mac guys to selectively turn on and off all kinds of things like fonts, Internet plugins, Preference Panes, Startup Items (Doh! again), etc,. I grabbed it off Versiontracker. Works great with Panther and Tiger. Check it out if you like to tinker.
