Default Phoenix/Peacock/RA $149 at Sweetwater

I posted this at some other forums and people bought some of these afterwards, so I thought I'd post it here since these guys had not seen the Sweetwater ad. At first I thought I was dreaming when I first saw it. To me, they are all must-haves. I've tried swapping other tape plugs for Phoenix but there's just not anything that does what Dark Essence does. Peacock is much better on the master than Phoenix if you ask me. Really helps create a wide and smooth sound. Shibata preset is excellent. RA has been great for me to fine tune things with, very transparent. It especially helps if I've got nothing but a pre-mixed instrumental and a couple vocal files. Or other smaller sessions. I prefer it to using some kinda limiter at the end of the chain. Hopefully this reaches someone who has been waiting a long time for a sale like me.

Wow, 'tis true!

https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Phoenix2

To be honest the new price is more manageable, although still expensive compared with the likes of the perpetual Waves and Plugin Alliance offers.

Anyhow, long been on my procurement list, I might have to try the demo

Really interested in these. Problem is I have more tape, vinyl & saturation emulations than I really need.

Anybody using these against the current usual suspects, Slate VTM, Waves Kramer, J37, Abbey Rd Vinyl, Izoptope Vinyl, PA VSM-3, Saturator-2, Decapitator, Fabfilter Saturn etc?

I've tried everything in a lot of different ways. To me, no other tape emu stacks up against Phoenix. I tried swapping in other stuff after my last trial ran out and before I bought it. The other sat plugins you named never really did much for me. Phoenix's Dark Essence setting does though. And if you use the Shibata preset on Peacock, it should be great on your master fader. I will usually turn the dial to Deep instead of Gold though. You may have to experiment as to where it works best in your chain. Peacock also uses a lot less cpu than Abbey Road vinyl. Phoenix is even more cpu efficient.

The $149 price is still up, I'd encourage anyone on the fence to grab them if you can. Might be the last day. I don't think this is a new price going forward.

Anyhow, good investment I'm sure.

Phoenix tdm and then Phoenix 2 have been on most mixes for many many years, funny how what once one perceived as "subtle" amongst all the bells and whistles plugins back in the day is now more useful than a lot of those fly by nights that have long gone into the unused folder. good price, worth a look, picking up peacock i think, thanks for the heads up

I'm in for Phoenix II and RA...

Maybe Peacock too but I've got to digest these two a bit first...

Thanks for the heads up! Phoenix was one of the first plugins I got a long time ago and it still gets used on every single track I work on. I have had my eye on RA, but it has always been too expensive for my taste, but I just snagged it from Sweetwater. It is the last day of the sale!! Act now!

Loving Phoenix II and RA.

Peacock is looking real tempting, but even at $149 I've pretty much blown the plugin budget this month.

Somebody talk me out of it please...
