ProRes Video - Protools Ultimate PC Prob

Hi I need to layback audio to a ProRes Qt but PT says i.have a missing video codec and wont let me import it ..even QT 7 pro says the same..it can play.but with no frames or video at all..all black.. ...btw have no prob using a MAC set up but i WFH now ..and i only have a pc to work with..pls help TIA 👍

PC set up is Protools Ultimate 2019 Windows 10 Pro

Have you downloaded and installed the codecs pack from your account. It's in the PT folder under Drivers.

ProRes isn't an Avid CODEC, so that wouldn't work. As far as I know you'd need 3rd party software to encode to ProRes on Windows.

still searching for a work around , i have a Quicktimepro 7 on Windows but can't view video.....

Macbook White Protools 10 Yosemite
i have an old macbook white with PT 10 on Yosemite with Quicktime player 10....added all pro video codec formats from apple support, it lets me import it but still no video frames , even QT player 10 won't play it..it's still looking for a codec .l'm thinking.......i can upgrade to High Sierra(my Macbook limit ) then install PT10 ...would that work? ...

QuickTime X on Mac should play it, if it doesn’t it may be corrupted. Premiere Pro is one piece of software than can encode to ProRes on Windows.

The Apple Video CODEC pack is for AVFramework (QT Player 10/FCPX etc. uses this), QT7 and Pro Tools 10 will use the now defunct QuickTime Engine, which needs its own set of CODECs. The CODEC pack won’t install these.

I tried to update the video and quicktime codecs for the 2nd time ..now QT10 can play the uncompressed file 😊 on my old Mac..no problems importing it ..gorgeous HD video and its 6GB for a 30 seconder tv spot ..thanks all👍

i installed the aja codec from the website....now i can play it QT time player and i can import it now in Protools Windows 10 Pro
