Default Click won\'t work (ignore the others)

Alright...
So I have a Pro Tools 7 session up on my MacBook Pro running on Windows XP. I want to record with a click. I set up the click, and when I press play, whether I'm recording or not, the click stops after a few beats and will not play anymore. I have tried enabling the click on both Audio and Aux tracks. Having a click is essential to my recording, so it's very necessary that I solve this problem. Do any of you know what could be the problem? I'm sure its something simple and easy to fix, but try as I might I can't figure it out. Thanks for your help.

EDIT: I apologize for the triple post, my internet was being slow. Anyway, my problem just got even worse. I exited out of that session and started a new session, to see if the click would work there. I created an audio track, put the click on it, and pressed play. Then this message came up: "Problem detected with audio clock. Check that your clock source and sample rate are correct." I went back into my other session and now that session would not play either, the same message came up. Please help me!!

Try going to Set Up/ Click and make sure that you have During play and record selected
also on your transport make sure you have the metronome/click button selected

thanks, but I already checked both of those things. The click plays, but just for one or two beats, and then stops. Anybody else know what could be going on here?

Do you have the conductor enabled -- or is this with a manual tempo? What's the meter set to? Does the Aux track have an input selected?

Hey jllo1428:

Did you ever find out what the problem was? I am having the exact same problem as you in your original post. It's driving me crazy -the click just stops randomly. Please let me know if you figured it out.

Hi guys...
I stumbled upon this one a while ago, whilst setting up my Dell 9400....Test and see if you're having trouble with any other MIDI related devices.

I can't remember which of these two fixed the problem, but I think it was the first.

1. Installed the Dual Core Hot-Fix (found somewhere in these forums)

2. Had to update Video Card Drivers from ATI. They seemed to be causing lots of trouble.

Hope this helps .... Also if anyone knows of a better solution....let me know ...

So, I checked out the dual-core hot fix option on another post on the forum, but my computer isn't exhibiting any symptoms of a problem with the dual processors. Do you think it's still worth downloading? On the download website, it says not to download unless you're sure about the problem. So, I'm hesitant. I mean, everything else is working flawlessly... performance is good, plugins are working well, track count is up, etc. It's just this one problem with the click track stopping randomly.
