Cloud is just that - cloud and not on one's machine. You can move licenses to and from the cloud so say you're changing machines or going to a place and using another machine. You log in with the ILM s/w while online, move the license asset from your machine to the cloud, logoff with the ILM s/w while still online, go to the other computer or studio, get online, log in with the ILM s/w and move the license to the computer in use. You do need internet access while doing the transfer and can pull the plug on that when done making the transfer. Then when you're done with the second machine reverse the process and move the license from the machine to the cloud and back to the original machine.

Thing is you do need internet access while actually doing the transfer from a computer but not while actually working with the plugin.

I'm with you both. I like Waves on USB better than iLok, because it is regular (not proprietary) USB stick. Still I use USB for Waves and PA, iLok for most of stuff, and e-licenser for Steinberg. Three sticks :)

Not fun.
Something to think about for those that have a micro card reader built in to the computer - use that and a memory card for your licenses for things like PA and Waves. Works a treat here and allows me to have just the iLok especially now that Propellerhead Reason doesn't require the Steinberg/Vienna/Ignition key dongle anymore; it can still be used along with authorization to one's computer. Neat thing is if you go that route you can still keep a license asset on the dongle. Sadly they haven't seen the light and offer to have one's license on a plain old memory stick/card.

My iloks work fine on one of these:

https://www.amazon.com/CyberPower-CP...2586TVQX6FTB5B

Available in 4 or 7 port models.

I have monitors with built in hubs, too. I have a Phillips with both 2.0 and 3.0 ports. Also have 3.0 hub in an external hard drive (Seagate for Mac). Have not had problems.

Even easier is the new metal iLok 3, the exact same size as my metal Kingston USB thumb (Holds Waves, and PA licenses), both on one keyring fit on a hub so well!

Yes! If and when your system drive crashes, or your registry becomes corrupted, or you need to update to a new operating system, it is a relief to have your licences on an iLok. For a while there was an option to put the AIR bundle licence on the system drive which I did - but after having to do a reinstallation I have kept it on the iLok dongle.
