Downgrading?
Hey!
It's my first time here and i'm sort of a newbie, so bear with me :) The problem: The company i'm working in (a post production place) just got a 003 Factory with PT8 LE. We previously had HD with two 96 I/O's and a Sync HD. We decided to downrgade to make the studio a more portable one and just - well - easier to use. I installed the new pro tools and plugged in the 003. But now when I start pro tools, it asks me to connect the digi-link cables to the old HD system.. And I just want to use the 003 for everything. The 003 works fine when the old HD-system is hooked up and I get to choose it as my main controls-surface, but how do I make this change permanent? Thanks. If you didn't understand something, please reply and i'll try to explain myself better :) |

Re: Downgrading?
Uninstall Protools HD and install Protools LE (the 003 is a LE interface). If you installed LE over HD there may be problems nobody can explain, so if that's what you did, then re-install OS and start fresh.

Re: Downgrading?
Yep, uninstall HD and install LE. The fact that PT HD and PT LE can not cohabitate is ridiculous. Dual start drives (or partitions) are required if you need both on the same computer. I expect this issue will soon disappear with a soon to be released universal version of ProTools. . . just a guess.

Seriously, this happens to most of us. But still, it's a very good idea to start fresh anyway, so consider this a lesson learnt.

Re: Downgrading?
Hey,
I now reinstalled the whole OS and the LE, and it's still asking me to connect the digilink-cable. Should i take the PCI-cards out of the back of my computer as well so that Pro Tools doesn't find them and try to use them? The 003 does work with only a FireWire-cable right? Thanks again. |

Yes, 003 needs a FW cable. It should have been included in the box.

Re: Downgrading?
Yeah, i took out the PCI-cards and now it works like a charm. Weird that i couldn't choose between using the HD or the 003 hardware though.
But the important thing is that now it works fine :) Thanks! |
