Default Internal Video Synch vs Synch X with Native Cards

So as of now I'm just playing video internally in ProTools with the Avid Video Engine. I'm thinking about purchasing a Synch X and a Native card and working that way if it's going to give me a tighter synch. I know the Synch X is mostly used for locking multiple rigs together but can I use it this way and if so will it give me frame edge lock?

Frame edge sync is primarily what the Sync X is used for. It has its own internal video reference generator.

The only way this will benefit a system that you work on is if you a have video card that will accept external video reference.

From your post its not clear what you mean by "native cards".
Currently the only native card supporting frame edge accurance is HDn or HDn TB. Or an HDX card (which is not native of course).
The card should have a serial port in order to communicate with the Sync X or Sync HD. BTW buy a used Sync HD + Aja GEN10 and save alllllot of money over sync X. They both will do absolutely the same job.
Regarding the video card, there are few options from Aja and Black Magic cards.
My preference in my signature but any Avid supported card with Reference Input will work.
