Default Pro Tools 12 Hanging

Hi. I recently downloaded Pro Tools 12 and installed. It just hangs when I open any session (old or new). I did all the computer configurations as instructed on the install. My ilok is current and all my drivers are up-to-date. I am running Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-4160 CPU @ 3.60 GHZ, RAM:8.00 GB, System 64-bit, x64-based processor. Windows 8.1 (DELL). Any ideas?

First off Welcome,

Second That i3 won't do any good as PT wants an i7.

Then i suspect you have only one hard drive? And its a 5400rpm and not the minimum of 7200rpm but please let us know.

Also what interface? What Asio4all if no interface!?

Many questions if you want help,

Yes, there is 1 disk drive. It is st1000dm003-1er162, which I think is a 7200. Am I wrong?

Looks like a 7200rpm Barracuda Drive.

But as I asked we need more info. And you need a secondary drive atleast 7200rpm or better yet an SSD drive for recording to. One medioker 7200 drive will never work great and the i3 CPU is another roadblock.

Post the info and we can advice.

PS. Is this a Laptop PC or a desktop?

Hi,

Remember that PT is not a multi client ASIO driver. If you gonna use ASIO4all remember to unselect the that from you Windows system default.

PT is not like others DAWs that share Audio drivers.

PT should not hang even if the system is underpowered. It should at least boot and bring up the app. CPU power affects the ability to perform tasks, not initialize the application.

Agree, just wanted to point this issue out as that spec will definitely make PT lag and hang for sure when he start using it.

We asked for more info like interface and what drivers etc but lets wait and see what he says
