Default new hardware profile help

Hey everybody, I have a Sony Vaio (yeah, I know not the greatest for PT) that I need to set up a separate hardware profile on. I only got 12 tracks on the Davec test, so I need some help. I did a search on this subject on the DUC & didn't find the appropriate answers.

I'm running XP & 5.3.1. I have a Pent. 3, 800 megahertz Intel, 30 gig main drive, 40 gig audio drive, Bios is ASUS 30303031, the IRQ is by itself on 11, & 256 ram.

2 questions: What are the ONLY things I need to keep in a PT hardware profile, & does anyone else have one of these Sony Vaios that can give me some helpful hints on making it more PT friendly? Thanks for any help. The DUC is a wonderful thing.

Sorry, no one is out here. Might as well haul it out to the curb and hope Santa brings you an AMD for X-mas.

12 sounds about right for a p3 800/winxp/256meg machine. just disable your parallel & serial ports, usb ports, any other sound cards, and any printers, scanners or software that runs in background. that probably won't help much though. buying a 2GHZ+ machine might help.

Thanks for the advice. I'll have to put that on my x-mas list!
