Default DANGEROUS Bug - do NOT Delete Unused Regions

Until Digi sorts out THIS BUG I really recommend no one select unused regions, and use the "DELETE" Option, when cleaning up their sessions.

The bug is easily re-produced, as seen at the beginning of the video, but as I've found out (Almost the hard way), and you'll see at the end of the video, this isn't restricted to Elastic Audio Pitch Modified Regions.

It seems to be pulling active regions right off the playlist, that is STANDARD audio, and NOT elastic audio.

I thought before, the "Work Around" to avoid this bug, was to just "Print" EA regions, before cleaning the session.

This shows, that it can show up out of no where.

Digi really should issue a technical alert on this one. here, AND in the LE forum.

Digi - HERE'S THE SESSION FILE

Thanks King,
thats why I doublebackup my work, including a "daily reel" with date.
Before I run the backups I check if really all files are still present..
Would be a shame to overwrite the backup with a busted project..
knock on wood

USD - no, it's as early as 8.0 No cs

the Elastic Audio example is a guaranteed removal of audio from playlists "in Use"

As for the Audio session I just encountered, I can't "Re create it" I don't know what elements caused it... Hopefully by posting the session, it'll help Digi narrow down the culprit.

I Always have a safety Backup at the end of EVERY session, but I do admit, if I'm tracking, and I comp together something in the studio, WHILE we're tracking, and I know it's a good comp / Keeper / "The One" - and I feel confident that I'm not going to want any alternative passes to sift through... I'll often, "In the tracking process", Delete Unused Playlists for that track, and Cmd+Shift+U - Cmd+Shift+B - Delete

to keep my sessions clean.

With this bug, it's possible, that it'll take your comp right out of the timeline, and delete it from disk.

I'm obviously changing this workflow, As I recommend any other folks that have this as a regular part of their Tracking, and comping workflow...

And I really urge Digidesign, to post a Technical Alert, like the "Inserts F-J" problems they were aware of, and working on -

this is much more serious then messed up Automation.
