Just finished two Netflix Original shows in Germany, both live action, one in Atmos, one in 5.1.

Barely enough budget as it is.

I don’t see the unscripted shows forced into ATMOS any time soon. Maybe a documentary and feature film format, but not a reality TV show

Although I would have loved to hear ‘Fundit Bawls’ mixed in ATMOS.

(Private joke for Patrick; huge fan of Nailed It, btw)

Somehow it was made the standard and somehow everyone survived.
Atmos isn't too expensive for me to mix in, it's too expensive for my clients to pay for. Most would rather me mix in 5.1 or stereo and just bill a regular rate.

The audio guys at NETFLIX are very cool. They’ve done/ are doing a lot to improve audio quality. My understanding is that eventually they want Dolby Atmos Home to be the defacto delivery standard. And some time in the near future probably all of their “original” content will be in Atmos (or upconverted somewhere beforehand). I’ve never been hounded by them personally whether it be older content or brand new, but I’m not working on any “Netflix originals” at the moment. Like someone else said, the guys at Netflix are very responsive and they know their stuff.
