Wish that was posted somewhere in the Pro Tools documentation. I learned the hard way...but luckily it's out today, so all is good.

Any idea why this may be happening without any version of MC installed? Some videos will load and scrub but not play, most including ProRes QuickTimes and DNxHD MXFs won't even import. System has 16GB of RAM.

Do the ProRes QuickTimes play in either QuickTime Player (v7) or QuickTime X?

Yep could do with a fix to this if I am to try and put pt11 through it's paces - just seen the co-install specs for the first time which explains why my setup doesn't import quicktimes of any codec I have tried.

Why is this a problem? Is this being reviewed or fixed by Avid??

Why is what a problem? v10.3.6 does not use the Avid video engine and is a 32-bit application. v11 uses the Avid video engine and is a 64-bit application. What would you want Avid to fix here?

Is there a order in which I should be installing MC 7 and PT 11? When I uninstalled everything, and reinstalled just Pro Tools, all was working well, however, when I installed MC7, it seems to have broken PT 11 again, going back to the same issue when I had MC6.5. I just tried manually uninstalling PT 11, and reinstalling but the missing codec error has returned!!

Any advisement? I mainly use PT 11 for video so it's very important for me.

Thanks,

Peter

Yeah, same problem here. Two machines: a 2009 Mac Pro and a 2013 Macbook Pro with retina display and 16Gb of ram. Both machines have Media Composer 7 installed.

Mac Pro has working video import in PT11. Macbook Pro refuses to import video, throwing an error about missing codec, or something to that effect.

Very frustrating indeed.
