Bug? "Save A Copy In" not working properly
I edit a daily radio program and we use "Save A Copy In" extensively to move files between Pro Tools 12 and Pro Tools 8.
Each folder has 12 sessions. We have a 'parent' folder that contains the 12 sessions, an Audio Files folder that contains the audio 'unique to that set of programs. Another Audio Files folder one level up that contains all the music and intro's for the whole year (so we are not duplicating the same audio files over and over. I normally edit the programs in PT12 and "Save A Copy In" to send them to the producer to write intro's and outtro's (he uses PT8). We have been doing this for over 10 years with no problem. Until yesterday. Yesterday after editing and saving 3 other programs with no issue, all of a sudden "Save A Copy In" is not creating a new folder and duplicating all the audio files. The way it would normally work, you would have to click "Files," then "Save A Copy In," then "Session (Pro Tools 7-9)" and select under ITEMS to COPY check the box next to "Audio Files." THEN it would copy all the audio files, session, fades, etc. into a separate folder. NOW, regardless whether that box is checked or not, it copies all the audio files into a separate folder. HELP! What is going on, is this a bug in Pro Tools 12.8? Thanks, George |

Re: Bug? "Save A Copy In" not working properly
Hey George,
First things first,is that we need to know your system details. Also whatever troubleshooting you've done. There are users that may have the same caliber of system and can test to see if it can can reproduced. Technically it's not a bug, unless it's been re-created on multiple systems and OS' repeatedly. I would start by deleting your prefs, ect as outlined in the READ THIS BEFORE POSTING. CHeers...we'll get you sorted out

Re: Bug? "Save A Copy In" not working properly
Gentlemen,
Thank you for your kind response. As you can tell, I rarely post here. Let me say that this appears to be working INTERMITTENTLY. The original session that I had the problem with is saving fine. A few other sessions are not saving correctly. One thing I did notice, when you first click File and "Save a Copy In", the window that pops up has an option halfway down on the left side called "Items To Copy" and under that is a check box with "Audio Files" next to it. That check box is not checked by default (nor the box below it). From the drop down menu at the top, select "Session (Pro Tools 7->9). If it is NOT going to save correctly you will notice that under "Items To Copy" the the entire line that says "Audio Files" will be grayed out (including the check box) BUT if you look closely the box will be checked. And the line below it will be grayed out but that box checked also. (Line reads Convert to Specified Format). Still not sure what is causing it to work that way, but seems like a bug to me! Thanks for the help. Re: Bug? "Save A Copy In" not working properly
I hope this got solved?
But if not… something to try out. I've both heard from others and also myself run into this strange thing that "Save Copy In…" behaves correctly, in at least some versions of Pro Tools, only when you run this command the first thing you do after opening Pro Tools. And I mean really the first thing: just open PT and directly after that open the session (don't start playback, don't do anything!), select "Save Copy In…" from the File menu and tick what needs to be ticked and let it run. Otherwise Save Copy In… will probably behave erratically. Try this, and report back, if you can. -matts |

Re: Bug? "Save A Copy In" not working properly
when you save a copy in 7>9 format, the audio gets copied by default(that's why the checkbox is greyed out).
