Hardware holds its value as long as you are able to use it.

With old hardware you obviously also need old computer, which can be tricky to maintain in 2020. I myself still maintain a PT6 MIX3 system, a PT8 HD3|Original system, and a PT10 HD3|Accel system for various special uses. It just isn't very easy to get it up and running if something breaks on the computer.

PT11 and later you can basically think anything that has Avid logo on it will work and anything with DigiDesign logo probaby won't. Few exceptions, but take it as a rule of thumb.

I have PT latest version on laptop but rarely get time to use it. i do wish i had some of the new features but PT10 does what i need.
